WELCOME TO
GABY SPENCER ART

My STORY
Nestled in the heart of a charming Cotswold village, I am a printmaker whose work is deeply inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds me. Accompanied by my devoted dog, Iwa, I draw endless creativity from the landscapes, folklore, and cultural tales that shape my art.
Specializing in drypoint, collagraph, and linocut techniques, I thrive on experimentation, constantly exploring new ways to bring my vision to life.
Each print tells a story, and I invite you to step into my world—where nature, imagination, and craftsmanship come together in harmony.

Some of my unique pieces of art are available at the gallery Artysan in Stow-on-the-Wold

My techniques:

Drypoint
Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique where an image is incised directly into a metal or acrylic plate using a sharp needle. The process creates burrs, or raised edges, around the lines, which hold ink and produce soft, velvety lines in the final print. This method is prized for its rich textures and delicate details.

Collagraph
Collagraph involves creating a textured printing plate by assembling various materials—such as fabric, cardboard, or string—onto a surface like wood or heavy board. The plate is then sealed, inked, and either wiped for intaglio or rolled for relief printing. The technique is celebrated for its versatility and ability to produce richly textured and dimensional prints.

Linocut
Linocut is a relief printing technique where designs are carved into a sheet of linoleum. The raised, uncarved areas are inked, while the recessed parts remain ink-free. A press or hand burnishing transfers the image to paper. Linocuts are known for their bold, graphic qualities and striking contrasts.
