A medieval tale tells of a faithful dog who accompanied his master, a merchant, on many journeys. One day, the merchant was wrongly accused of theft and imprisoned. The dog remained outside the prison gates every day, refusing to leave. When the true thief was eventually discovered, the merchant was freed and found his loyal companion still waiting for him. The townspeople were so moved by the dog's devotion that they celebrated it as a symbol of loyalty and faithfulness.

In medieval art and literature, dogs often represented fidelity, protection, and unwavering companionship.

For this new series of artworks, I have drawn deep inspiration from medieval bestiaries. Each illumination invites the viewer into a story where animals, both real and mythical, take centre stage, often serving as metaphors for human nature and behaviour.

The rich colours and luminous gold of these medieval manuscripts have inspired me to experiment with a variety of techniques, combining drypoint, linocut, and mixed media to create layered and evocative images.

I invite you to join me in the dreamlike world I have created, where imagination, symbolism, and storytelling come together.
