A medieval farmer once complained that his geese wandered wherever they pleased and never obeyed his calls. One autumn morning, a thick fog covered the fields, and the farmer became lost on his own land. Hearing the familiar honking of his flock, he followed the sound and soon found his way home. From that day forward, he spoke more kindly of the geese, saying that although they seemed foolish, they possessed a wisdom of their own.

In medieval stories and bestiaries, geese were sometimes portrayed as noisy and stubborn creatures, yet they were also admired for their vigilance, loyalty to their flock, and remarkable sense of direction.

For this new series of artworks, I have drawn deep inspiration from medieval bestiaries. Each illumination invites the viewer into a story where animals, both real and mythical, take centre stage, often serving as metaphors for human nature and behaviour.

The rich colours and luminous gold of these medieval manuscripts have inspired me to experiment with a variety of techniques, combining drypoint, linocut, and mixed media to create layered and evocative images.

I invite you to join me in the dreamlike world I have created, where imagination, symbolism, and storytelling come together
